CitrusRemote for Android

Effective: October 2026

1. Commitment to Privacy

CitrusRemote is designed and published by ReggieSoft as a private, open-source utility to control Apple TV devices. We believe your entertainment and input activity should stay strictly between your phone and your Apple TV. CitrusRemote collects no personal data, creates no user profiles, and never transmits information off your local network.

2. Local Network Communication

CitrusRemote communicates exclusively over your local Wi-Fi or Ethernet network to interact with Apple TV devices:

  • Device Discovery: Uses standard ZeroConf / mDNS on your local network to detect Apple TV instances running tvOS.
  • Direct Pairing and Control: Connects directly to the IP address of your selected Apple TV using Apple's encrypted Companion protocol. No network traffic is routed through external servers or third-party gateways.

3. Data Storage & Backups

Pairing credentials and device connection tokens generated during pairing are stored exclusively on your device in private application storage. To ensure maximum security:

  • Credentials are never uploaded to cloud servers or shared across devices.
  • CitrusRemote explicitly configures Android backup rules to exclude pairing credentials and preferences from Google Cloud backups and device transfers.

4. Keyboard Input

When you enter text using the in-app keyboard, text strings are sent directly to the currently connected Apple TV over the local encrypted connection. Keystrokes and text inputs are never logged, recorded, or transmitted to any other entity.

5. No Analytics, Tracking, or Advertising

CitrusRemote contains zero analytics SDKs, zero crash-reporting telemetry services, and zero advertising libraries. We do not track user behavior or device identifiers.

6. Open Source Transparency

CitrusRemote is open source. You can independently inspect the source code and build process in our public repository.

7. Contact

If you have questions about this privacy policy, please contact ReggieSoft via our contact form or open an issue on the CitrusRemote repository.
